Heat the Pig Liver Full OP (私が笑う理由は) Translation

Since its streaming release, I've been listening to the full version of Heat the Pig Liver's OP 私が笑う理由は (The Reason I Smile is) by ASCA a lot.  Due to it being so catchy, and probably because of its message in relation to the story, I couldn't get it out of my head, so I decided to translate it.  Here you go.

兎にも角にも、笑顔で！

「鏡よ鏡。ちゃんと笑えてる？」

昔からの言い付けを馬鹿みたいに守ってる

No matter what, put on a smile!

"Mirror, O mirror, am I smiling properly?"

I foolishly adhered to this instruction from long ago.

必要とされたくて　誰かのために笑った

信じてきた仮面を私のためにサヨナラ

Wanting to be needed, I smiled for the sake of others.

For my own sake, I said goodbye to the mask I trusted in.

笑う理由なんて　探すものじゃなくて

あくびするように自然とそこにあった

祈るみたいに時を超えてきた

二つの運命が答え教えてくれた

やっと会えたね。

There's no need to search for a reason to smile.

It's something that comes naturally, like a yawn.

Surpassing time like a prayer,

our two destinies taught me this answer.

We finally got to meet.

顔色うかがっては

「口角よ、重力に逆らえ！」

呪いみたいな癖は長所にしてしまおう

Pay attention to others' expressions.

"Go against gravity, the corners of my mouth!"

Let's turn this cursed habit of mine into my strength.

誰かのためだけに　笑って何が悪い？

“人は鏡だから”　君を笑顔にしてみせる

What's wrong with only smiling for someone else's sake?

People are like mirrors, so I'll make you break into a smile.

笑う理由なんて　本当に単純で

ただ目の前の君を笑わせたいだけ

私達にはその力がある

笑うことが出来るのは人だけだと

The reason I smile is really simple,

I just want to make you, the person before me, smile.
