I had long since lost all hope.  I was aware of this even before setting out on my journey towards the capital.

I worked for a family of gravekeepers in the town of Lubori.  My main job was preparing burials for the deceased by digging holes at the large cemetery just on the town outskirt.  This type of work was shunned, and the only people that actually did this were those from poor families, or Yesmas, like me.

That’s why the only people I usually come in contact with are people who have lost a family member or friend, or people who are struggling to make ends meet.

Even though these people don’t have money, they’re extremely kind-hearted.  However, they were so preoccupied with trying to survive and feed their family every day that I’m sure they didn’t have time to think about my life or death.

When I turned 16 and left the house I served, no one came with to accompany me.  In the end, I was destined to die along the way.

Nevertheless, what saved me was something I firmly believed in – the power of prayers.

Short Post on Heat the Pig Liver

I recently came across something interesting that seemed worth sharing, so here you go.

I found some of the storyboarding that was done for episode 12 of the anime, namely the anime original sequence that took place after Jess confessed why Mister Pig was brought over to her world.  It's really good!  Just watching this as is with the BGM adds a lot to the bittersweet feeling, and if these scenes were actually animated when the episode aired, I might not have been miffed by how their confession of love to each other was pushed to a separate scene instead of at the emotional climax it was supposed to happen at.  I especially like how the capital gave off a more lively feel, and how there was that small bit of focus at the end with there being a lot of couples around the place (read the novel for more insight on this!).

My only hope at this point is that No. 9 went back and reanimated these moments in the Blu-ray/DVD release.  I suppose this will either be answered or dashed once I receive vol 5, as that will contain the infamous episode 9...

No matter what, never lose hope.  I lived my life believing such.

And I’ve conveyed those words to Mr. Nott countless times.

The first time I spoke to Mr. Nott was when he was six or seven years old.  It was around two years after I had come to Bapsas as a Yesma.

Mr. Nott is an orphan, and was raised by huntsmen.  Because they hunt while traveling, they don’t have a fixed home.  The lone village of Bapsas, located inside the Dark Forest, was a frequent stop for them.

Despite being 10 years old at the time, I still saw Mr. Nott as a small child.  The first words we exchanged were “Please enjoy.” and “Thanks.” when I handed him some rabbit soup.  If someone had told me then that this boy would become my first love, I wouldn’t have believed them.

“I need to get changed, so could you please come with me?”

 

I doubted my ears when I heard Jess utter those words.

When a girl gets changed, isn’t the guy supposed to wait somewhere else?

Plus, I’m a scrawny four-eyed shitty virgin who’s not had a girlfriend in his life before.  I’m just your ordinary science otaku college student that women would ignore.  Or at least, that was the case up to yesterday.

It seems my life has completely changed since becoming a pig.  I mean, I just got told “I need to get changed, so could you please come with me?”!  It appears that being a lovable piggy helps lower the vigilance of cute girls.  Reincarnations to another worlds are the bomb!  I should enjoy myself being a pig here.

Heat the Pig Liver Volume n & Lumiere Released

Today marks the true final novel volume of Heat the Pig Liver.  And with it, Asagi-sensei has also released an artbook containing many of the illustrations drawn for the series.  Go and order your copy if you haven't already!

I had a lot of fun with this series these past 4 years, and really enjoyed its combination of mystery and humor.  It's sad to see it finish, and I really don't want it to be over so soon, but it's time to accept reality.

I look forward to reading what story Takuma-sensei comes up with in the future.

Heat the Pig Liver Anime - Ep 12 Thoughts

Finally, the long awaited final episode!  Although episode 11 answered a lot of questions, there were still some lingering ones yet to be addressed, as well as what exactly is to become of Mister Pig.  As there was a month long delay until this final episode's release, Aniplex released a finale PV just a few days prior to recap the past episodes (link to my translation upload).

This post contains my thoughts as a novel reader, but since episode 12 wraps up volume 1 of the story, there's no real spoiler warnings to be had as it'll just be me filling in the details that were left out by the anime adaptation.  Lastly, you'll find any news regarding the series which came out over the past month in the update section at the end.

The pie served for dinner was cold.  So I straightforwardly remarked, “It’s cold.”

 

And yet, Itsune glared at me like she was looking at a pig before responding.

 

“Well then, Nott, why don’t you think about it and figure out why there’s a cold pie then?”

 

What did she mean by that?  I turned my attention towards the large, white tablecloth-covered dining table.  From what I could tell, my portion was one slice of a pie that was equally divided into six pieces.  That was all that was served on my plate, and I didn’t spot the other five slices.  The platter that should have held the pie before it was divvied up was also missing.

 

I don’t like fussing over the details like a certain sleazy pig, but I also didn’t want to be made to look like an idiot by Itsune, so I gave it a little more thought.

—Yeah.  I must say, when it comes to flowers, the smaller they are, the more charming they become.

 

Sanon conveyed this to me while staring at the tiny white flowers blooming on the trees beyond Celes.

 

Having heard this, Celes tilted her head quizzically.

 

“What’s there to admire about small flowers…?”

 

With his eyes trained slightly below her chin, the black pig – Sanon, proceeded to explain.

 

—I find large flowers to be too flashy and assertive, so I can’t help but be drawn in by those more hidden and modest beauties.

 

This black pig was no longer looking at flowers.  Officer!  There’s a pervert over here!
