Heat the Pig Liver V1 SS – Pig Prince

Specially Written Short Story “Pig Prince”

Have you ever experienced having your mind read?

Well, I doubt it.

But that’s exactly what I’m experiencing right now – and it’s a particularly special situation.

1 Month Blog Update

Hello again!  Today marks the one month anniversary of this blog.  I want to thank everyone that stopped by, and I'm glad to hear people are enjoying Heat the Pig Liver.

No, I'm not announcing that I'll be working on volume 2, at least not yet, but I do have some updates.  Those of you with a keen eye might have noticed that I've made some small translation edits across the blog to make certain sections read a little better.  In addition, I've updated the novel's translation home page to now include vol 2's cover blurb.  Lastly, I came across a short story (SS) for Heat the Pig Liver that was released during 2020 Golden Week which I will be translating.  It takes place some time during the first chapter of volume 1 and was written to be read by anyone, newcomer or not, so there won't be any spoilers.  Sadly, I don't own any of the other SS, so I won't be posting translations for those.

As with my previous post, make sure to support the author by purchasing his works so we'll be able to read more stories in the future!  I'm looking forward to the upcoming volume 7 which comes out in two months.

Heat the Pig Liver V1 Finished!

Hi there, Hayane here.

Phew, I just barely managed to squeeze this out at the end of the month.  I hope you all enjoyed volume 1 of Heat the Pig Liver, and that my translation skills were good enough to not ruin the reading experience.  I'm a big fan of this novel, and a part of why I decided to translate vol 1 was to show that this story isn't as degenerate or boring as the premise might makes it seem.  It's a good "don't judge a book by its cover" novel.  At least I certainly didn't expect a story about being reincarnated as a pig to have this kind of mystery and world building to it when I first read it.

For now, I don't have any plans to translate volume 2 since I'd like to take a breather.  If anyone wants to pick this project up, you're more than welcome to.  I hope this gets an official English release, but if that doesn't happen and no one has taken over...  Maybe I'll continue the story after the break?  When I start working on this, I know I won't be able to stop until the volume is finished, and while translating is fun, it's definitely not something I'd want to keep doing for another 6 (vol 7 is announced to be out this december) volumes straight.  I would burn out before long.

If someone's looking to work on the manga, feel free to use my translation as reference or let me know and I'll gladly help out up to where vol 1 ends since the majority of translation work should already be done.

Thank you all for reading this far, and make sure to support the author for more Jess-taso in the future!!!

For sticking with me until the end, I'd like to leave you all with one last translation...

Heat the Pig Liver - Volume 1: Afterword

Afterword

Nice to meet you all, this is Sakai Takuma.  Thank you for picking up such a strangely titled book.  I’m very glad I was lucky enough to get it published without needing to change the title to something more marketable, like “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Pig,” or “I Want to Eat Pig Liver.”

This novel was made possible to be read by many thanks to the help of a number of people, including the members of the 26th Dengeki Novel Grand Prize selection committee, my talented editor Anan, the godly illustrator Tohsaka, and various others.  I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude.

Heat the Pig Liver - Volume 1: Chapter 5

Chapter 5 – Heat the Pig Liver

I guess you could say the third time’s the charm as I finally woke up in a hospital bed.  It was snowing outside the window.  It didn’t seem like much time had passed since I ate the raw pig liver.

The hustle and bustle around me passed through my brain, and I kept staring at the ceiling like I had lost my soul.  After a while, my mother came into the ward and said something to the effect of “How long are you planning on sleeping?  Get a hold of yourself.” before quickly finishing her formalities and headed home.

When I finally got up, I looked at the IV tube and air conditioning equipment, and noticed that this world just has a lot of things.  On a small desk nearby were gifts from some friends.  I picked up a box of sweets and glanced at the Japanese written in fine print.

How many days have I slept like this?  No other period in my life will ever be able to surpass what I’ve felt over these past few days.

Only the sense of loss remained in the hospital bed.
